Pathways that lead to everlasting life begin on earth and continue in Heaven (Romans 6:4).
There are two roads of life:
1. The world's path.
2. God's Path.
Pathways that lead to everlasting life begin when we have:
1. Unconditional trust in God
2. Follow the Path of the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, Who leads His flock to greener pastures.
*There is a reality that is visible:
Earth is the physical dimension of God's Kingdom in this life with everything you can perceive with your senses - physical life is temporary.
Time dictates life where we are neither eternal nor infinite.
All things come to an end - nothing lasts forever!
*The other reality is invisible:
The second dimension of God's Kingdom is the everlasting Heavenly, Community of God, our dear Lord, Jesus Christ, our Blessed Virgin Mary, the Saints, Prophets and Angels.
Time has no meaning in God's Heavely Kingdom - nothing that is eternal and infinite has a need for time.
From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible proclaims the Mystery of God's Eternal Existence - the one sure foundation when all else fades away. "From everlasting to everlasting, you are God" (Psalm 90:2).
Things that will never fade or perish are:
1. The Word of God.
2. The soul of a human being.
3. The Spiritual Realm of God and His Love
*God is an Invisible Spiritual Force.
*Heaven is a Spiritual World.
When Jesus said, "My Kingdom is not of this world" (John 18:36) He is referring to God's Heavenly Kingdom, the eternal home of God's people.
The Existence of God focuses on Two Arguments:
1. The Cosmological Argument states that all things must have a cause and can only come through a Higher Power.
2. The Design Argument says that everything man-made comes to life through intelligence and design.
Intelligence and Design
Human creations are not accidental - they come to life through intelligence and design.
Creative individuals are innovators who have a vivid imagination to create ideas and opportunities.
They set goals and develop plans for their course of action.
"To say that man can exist without God is to say that a watch can exist without a watchmaker."
(William Paley 1743 – 1805)
Pathways That Lead to Everlasting Life
God gifted mankind with a spiritual soul - it is the link between the physical body and the spiritual self that will continue to exist beyond physical life.
Jesus Christ came to prepare humanity for the life to come after physical life has ended.
His Crucifixion on the Cross and His Resurrection, two of the most important events in Christian history, provided salvation to everlasting life through the forgiveness of our sins.
The Heavenly Kingdom of God is a major theme throughout the four Gospels of the Bible.
John the Baptist preached in the wilderness of Judea saying, "Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."
(Matthew 3:1-2).
The Heavenly Kingdom of God is our eternal destiny where we will finally realize our full spiritual potential.
Salvation of the Soul
Sin corrupts the mind through godless dysfunction.
It separates one another and from God.
The individual who steps away from the boundaries of their God-given conscience is inviting calamity.
We turn to God so He can fulfill His Purpose in us through Divine values and principles.
We cannot experience or understand God when, “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ."
(2 Corinthians 4:4)
The prodigal acknowledges their sins by turning to Jesus Christ and asking for forgiveness and deliverance.
Jesus Christ says, "This is the way to a meaningful, just and wholesome existence."
"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
Jesus Christ came to prepare humanity for the life to come in God's Heavenly Kingdom.
His Crucifixion on the Cross and His Resurrection provided our own salvation of the soul to everlasting life through the forgiveness of our sins.
The Biblical revelation of salvation of the soul should lead us to become responsible for our lives.
Repentance
Repentance is defined as correcting past wrongs to gain forgiveness.
When we repent, we turn back toward God.
*Joseph forgave his brothers for selling him into slavery.
(Genesis 45:15)
*Jesus reconciled with Peter, after he denied knowing Him three times.
(John 21:15-17)
*When Jesus was being Crucified, He asked God, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
(Luke 23:34)
Forgiveness
Forgiveness requires repentance from sinful ways.
In turn, they must also forgive others.
Just as God loves all His people and is willing to forgive their sins, we must also be willing to forgive others.
"For if you forgive others when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins".
(TNIV, Matthew 6:14-15)
Pathways That Lead to Everlasting Life
Since the Enlightenment (Intellectual movement of the late 17th and 18th centuries emphasizing reason and individualism) man has been gradually moving away from God.
The thinkers of the Enlightenment wanted to regard rational thinking while purging religion as superstitious.
After rejecting Christianity, they ended up with Deism (general belief in a Supreme Being that was silent and impersonal).
Without God:
*For the atheist, life has no eternal destiny - Solomon's Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament recognizes that life without God is incomplete when it is centered only on the here and now of human life.
With God:
*Life has meaning, a purpose, value and an ultimate, eternal destiny.
He provides humanity with unconditional love, hope, faith and spiritual strength to endure.
Choices through free will ultimately determine the character, direction and destiny of life.
"Empty Soul"
For the atheist, there is "no hope" in God's Heavenly Kingdom because they believe that physical life reaches a dead-end.
Atheism claims to be rooted in logic and reason based in science and the theory of evolution.
Its basic belief can be summed up as:
"there was nothing and nothing happened to nothing and then nothing magically exploded for no reason, creating everything magically rearranged itself for no reason whatsoever into self-replicating bits which then turned into dinosaurs."
An "empty soul" does not have the "Fear of God" - yet, choices in life define consequences.
A heathen who has nowhere to turn in their hour of need, does not seek refuge in God.
Existence of God
If God does not exist, that means that everything came to be by chance and without reason.
Is it possible that random chance can produce a life-supporting earth of abundance, the beauties of nature and an orderly universe?
How does non-intelligence, without design, create human life, the brain, our thoughts, feelings, emotions and dreams?
What about the five senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch?
God speaks to everyone through His Creation (Romans 1:18–20 and Psalm 19:1–2).
He speaks through Scripture, dreams and Angels that align with His Laws of Life - the Bible!
God's Wonderful Creations absorb the soul with beauty and lift the spirit with inner peace - the breath-taking colors of a sunset, a star-studded, moonlit night, the stunning colors of autumn leaves and flowers in all their varieties, chirping birds with their varied colors and flight, the sound of falling rain and floating clouds are some of the many wonders that remind us of our Creator and Intelligent Designer.
"For every house is built by someone, but God is the Builder of everything."
Hebrews 3:4 (NIV)
Faith in God purifies the soul.
Our virtue of faith enables us to:
“See” Christ within - the Light of the world is Jesus Christ our Savior.
God becomes our refuge, our strength and our inspiration to gain peace of mind.
Faith in God makes it possible to know, see and hear things that the greatest secularist professors could never, ever understand because they are spiritually blind by what they call, “evidence and reason.”
Devote ourselves in the service of others.
The spiritual rich have a sense that there is something beyond this life and Someone beyond this world.
With faith in God, we see and hear things that the “eye has not seen, nor ear heard”
(1 Corinthians 2:9).
We turn to God and Jesus Christ when we are conscious of sin, are depressed in spirit and to remove mountains in order to do what others think is impossible.
Faith absorbs the mind and soul with the spiritual inspiration of God's Beauty, within, around and above.
Jesus said, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see; for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it”.
(Luke 10:23–24).
Pathways That Lead to Everlasting Life
The moment a person dies the soul heads for the Heavenly Kingdom of God
Visions of the afterlife have been recorded throughout history.
Near-death experiences of those whose lives were saved by medical efforts are recorded.
People worldwide, who were clinically dead and were saved, overwhelmingly believe in God's Heavenly Kingdom.
Children too young to know about death or the afterlife have all reported consistent experiences.
People who were revived contain similar experiences.
They describe how their souls left their bodies and travelled toward a brilliant, white light and found themselves in a beautiful, breath-taking Paradise.
They experienced love, peace of mind and a sense of belonging.
There was joyous reunion with family and friends who had already gone before.
They were given a choice to stay or return to their earthly lives.
Countless videos, articles and books have been written over the years about Near Death Experiences by highly respected professionals.
People who have had Near Death Experiences all say that their soul is resurrected with a sound mind, intellect and emotions in The Heavenly Kingdom of God.
Many are presented with a review of everything they have ever done in life.
They are given spiritual gifts to enjoy in their new and everlasting life in the Heavenly Kingdom of God.
They experience a youthful rejuvenation beyond description.
And, there is no sickness, sadness or pain.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the House of the LORD forever.
-Psalm 23:6
