Spiritual treasures that have eternal value give enlightenment to lives that may seem otherwise, negative or hopeless.
We sense matter through our five senses of touch, sight, sound, smell and taste.
God Created humanity to know Him through their five senses of touch, sight, sound, smell and taste - there is also a sixth spiritual sense - faith.
Our senses experience God's Creation's everywhere that fill the mind with beauty and contentment.
Faith
Faith in God and Jesus Christ provides that feeling of inner-strength to move mountains in adversity.
Spiritual treasures that have eternal value nourish the mind through the power of your imagination that fills one with grace and an indescribable peace of mind.
With faith we see the world differently and live in the world differently.
Through faith we acknowledge God's Existence and reinforce our need for Him.
Through worship, we show our love and unquestioning devotion for God.
In worship, gratefulness flows forth in quiet humility through prayer.
With faith in God, we see and hear things that the “eye has not seen, nor ear heard” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
"If you want light to come into your life, you need to stand where it is shining."
- Guy Finley
We Have Three Spiritual Senses
They are:
1. Conscience
We need peace of mind to ease our conscience!
Our conscience is the Voice of God providing the moral sense of right and wrong through values and principles.
No-one can stand before God and lie or do evil with a clear conscience.
To know God's Voice, read His Word (the Bible).
To hear God's Voice, belong to Him by acknowledging His Presence in your life!
We hear the Voice of God through Liturgy and the Sacraments in church.
Jesus said, “My sheep listen to My Voice; I know them, and they follow Me” (John 10:27).
These are the sheep who hear and recognize His voice, because they know Him as their Shepherd.
Solomon said, "Give me an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad" (I Kings 3:9).
The healing energy of a tranquil mind, absorbed by beauty and inner contentment, makes you more resilient and optimistic.
2. Instinct
Instinct is a Gift from God that is a part of human nature.
Human nature can drive our actions to do things by putting ideas and plans into motion.
Instinct taps into inner wisdom to understand that only an Intelligent Designer can produce the wonders of life, nature and the universe - everything man-made comes to life through intelligence and design.
"For every house is built by someone, but God is the Builder of everything."
Hebrews 3:4 (NIV)
3. Holy Spirit
A person touched by the Holy Spirit is forever changed.
God becomes the Sovereign of our heart.
Jesus Christ becomes our companion in our daily walk in life.
We hear God's Voice through the Holy Spirit by serving others through justice, kindness, and humility.
Some may experience a "spiritual awakening" during their search for meaning in their lives.
And, there are those who had a transcendent experience from a near-death experience to encounter spiritual realities beyond the physical realm.
Spiritual Treasures That Have Eternal Value
The "spiritual poor" are impoverished because they lack the spiritual enlightenment that leads to spiritual fulfillment.
We cannot experience, understand, or relate to God when, “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:4).
Spiritual wealth is built through God's Blessings that are not dependent on material possessions or external circumstances.
The "spiritual poor" need to discover their inner spiritual self to realize that everything good comes from God's eternal rewards that last forever!
When the "heart spiritually awakens" life has meaning, a purpose and an eternal destiny.
Salvation manifests through positive contributions to ourselves, our family and our community.
The Biblical revelation of salvation through repentance and forgiveness should have a great impact on the kind of life we lead - the Fear of God leads people to become responsible for their lives.
Relationships take on a greater meaning.
Faith, love, hope and peace of mind deepen.
And, you will "see" through eyes of faith, God’s Presence within and around you.
God is our Treasure because we are Created by Him and Loved by Him.
Spiritual Treasures That Have Eternal Value
“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21).
Life has real meaning when we understand it is a Divine, Gift of God.
It becomes precious when we know there is an eternal destiny.
Jesus told His followers to focus on stockpiling Treasures in Heaven which are everlasting and cannot be taken away, instead of treasures on earth through worldly goods which are temporary, corrosive and fade away.
Lasting memories define every individual and their relations with others - history that will remain forever.
They link us to our past with many treasured memories of wonderful and unforgettable moments we fondly remember with family and friends and the kindness we show toward our neighbor.
Jesus Speaks in Parables to highlight that the Kingdom of Heaven is so valuable that any sacrifice is worth above all else - true riches are found through faith in God and the forgiveness of sins.
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Jesus says, “Watch out! Be on guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions” (Luke 12:15).
Spiritual Treasures That Have Eternal Value
When we reach out to those in need, hold the hand of those in sorrow or, we give a helping hand, we are living out the Vision of God.
Every good deed displayed through love, humility and forgiveness leaves the mark of goodness.
"Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth."
-(Matthew 5:5)
God Speaks to us through:
Prayer
Through prayer, we pray to God and Jesus Christ for our needs, our hopes and our dreams.
God hears every word, thought and whisper that come through hopes, worries and problems asking for guidance, forgiveness or healing.
Contemplation
"Contemplation" means "knowing beyond words" to recognize spiritual truths through a mind and heart that is focused on God's Greatness and Goodness.
We look toward Jesus Christ and the Mysteries and Miracles of His Life and upon One All-Embracing, Powerful and Merciful God who Created the universe and the world in which we live.
Contemplating God is a way of making Him the center of our lives.
Contemplative practices include prayer, meditation, visualization, pilgrimages and walking in nature.
Holy Bible
God's Word (Holy Bible) creates spiritual wealth (rich in spirit) of who we are (Ephesians 1:3-13) and how we live (2 Peter 1:3).
The Bible is the Word of God, the Sacred Book of Judaism and Christianity.
The Bible is a symbol of holiness, goodness and hope.
It is the source for understanding God and His Creations.
God's Laws of Life in the Bible take us back to our spiritual paths.
Jesus Christ says, "This is the way to a meaningful, just and wholesome existence".
God's Laws of Life:
*Sets boundaries - it avoids excesses and eliminates all that is harmful
*Guide us to right thinking and right action.
*Provide standards on which to base decisions that affect life.
When we eat healthy foods, we experience positive results to our health and well-being.
When we start exercising, we feel a new vitality and a new level of self-confidence.
Life that reflects our values always finds the path to self-fulfillment.
Story of the Blind Man
John 9 records the story of the blind man whose spiritual awakening led to an acknowledgement of who Jesus is.
The blind man’s gift of spiritual sight was accompanied by his healing of physical sight by Jesus.
The man then spoke of the dawning of new light in his life in simple terms: “One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!” (John 9:25).
Spiritual Assets
An asset is something that has a value and a future benefit.
Assets of life that matter: good health, peace of mind, a clear conscience, self respect, love and compassion for our fellow human being, a happy home, personal growth and spiritual happiness that can only be found in God and Jesus Christ.
Spiritual assets shape character and lifestyle through love, compassion, goodness, humility and forgiveness that overflow with selfless service to others.
Spiritual strength enables the individual to persevere and to endure for a brighter future.
With faith in God, we see and hear things that the “eye has not seen, nor ear heard” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
"Weave in faith and God will find the thread."
