The Good Shepherd

Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd Who calls people to share in His Mission to shepherd God's flock.
He endowed His Twelve Apostles with His Divine Message to preach and baptize people into the new Christian faith where love, justice and peace prevailed so that people might live life abundantly.

The Shepherd

The Bible describes the close relationship between a shepherd and their flock.
A shepherd feed's their flock and brings them to good pasture lands and water.
He guides them to stay in unity and seeks the wandering lost ones.
The sheep recognize the voice of their shepherd and they follow.
Jesus Christ is our Good Shepherd Who guides His flock to greener pastures.
He is the Good Shepherd Who suffered for our sins and gave His Life for us.

The Good Shepherd

Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for His sheep as depicted in the Gospels of Matthew 18:12–14 and Luke 15:3–7).
Jesus used the Parable of the Good Shepherd to illustrate that He is the “Gate” into the protective fold of the sheep pen.
He is the Shepherd Who leaves His flock of ninety-nine sheep in safety in order to find the one which is lost.
His flock know Him as their Shepherd Who is the One and Only way to the Kingdom of God.
"I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. The man who enters by the Gate is the Shepherd of his sheep.

Once we enter into the fold of the Good Shepherd we can look to the Lord to guide us along the path of righteousness.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
(John 14:6) 

Faith

Jesus Christ has a Human Face with Heavenly realities.
Faith is the cornerstone that connects us to a Higher Power!
That Higher Power is God!
With faith, we see beauty all around and we understand the Glory of God Who Created it all.
Jesus Christ says, "This is the way to a meaningful, just and wholesome existence."
"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
Matthew 5:16   
His Illuminated Light gives us peace of mind and helps us to overcome fears, worries and the obstacles of life.
The ethical guidelines of the Good Shepherds Path benefit our family, our community and our fellow human being.
It is the Path of righteousness that bonds the good society together.

The Fear of God

The Fear of God reminds us that:
*All actions have repercussions
*We are accountable to Someone.
That Someone is God!
The fear of God leads people to become responsible for their lives.

David the Shepherd Boy

King David was the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah.
He was born in Bethlehem in 907 BC (Before Common Era) and died in Jerusalem in 837 BC.
David was the young shepherd boy who gained fame for killing the Philistine warrior, Goliath.
He was anointed as the King of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah by the prophet, Samuel.
King David established Jerusalem as his capital and brought the Ark of the Covenant (gold-covered wooden chest containing the two stone tablets of the Ten Commandments) there.
David also became famous for his sacred psalms, the Hebrew (Jewish) hymns of praise and worship to God.
The Lord is my Shepherd (Psalm 23), written by David, is one of the most beloved of all psalms found in the Old Testament of the Bible.  
David portrays God as his Shepherd and his Protector who will lead him to greener pastures and that he would lack nothing.
For Christians, Jesus Christ is the "Good Shepherd" who came to lead His flock to God's “well-worn paths" and Who went to the Cross so we can gain salvation in God's Heavenly Kingdom.
The Lord is my Shepherd - Psalms 23:1-6
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not  want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Amen 

The Lord's Prayer

The Greatest Prayer
The Lord's Prayer, recorded in the Gospel of Matthew 6:9–13 and in the Gospel of Luke 11:2–4, is the best of all prayers because it recognizes God as our Creator and was taught by Jesus Christ at the Sermon on the Mount.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

The power, and the glory,

The Theotokos

The Virgin Mary is the Theotokos (God Bearer) who gave Birth to the Son of God, our Savior.
We honor the Theotokos as the greatest and holiest of all Saints because of her union with Christ.
